So this image is a testament to how long it has been since I worked professionally--why didn't I just walk up to the *front* of the room and get a photo wherein the illustrious Ms. Martin is visible, if not recognizable? It's been too long! And afterwards she was having conversations with lots of interesting looking people. Why didn't I get images then? Because it has been too long since I made my living taking pictures!
I am beginning to truly miss being a professional photographer....

A Matter of Diet
Well yeah so I somehow thought that eggs and cheese were sort of immune from the gross-ness of commercial farming and I was wrong.
I recently decided that I can skip the "pescatarianism" and just go back to being a lacto-ovo vegetarian. But I guess I will be quitting the eggs and cheese, too.
It's just as well; actually, it's even better.

Fix for Journalism Students

Chantal Foster and Associate Professor Richard Schaefer talk in the lobby of the University of New Mexico Communications and Journalism building after she gave a presentation to students Thursday.
Chantal Foster, creator of the on-line Duke City Fix community, talked to UNM journalism students Thursday, February 14, about using information technology to provide the audience meaningful and useful content.
Students packed into the Mac lab to hear her talk were from both the
print and broadcast concentrations.
The Internet, with its capacity to provide multimedia, has blurred the lines between the specialties. The change has put a strain on working journalists,
Albuquerque Tribune Editor Phill Casaus said.
So students are trying to prepare for a less well-defined career in light of the world wide web.
Near the end of her presentation, Foster taught the students how to employ the sophisticated technology already developed in Google Maps to present the audience with pertinent data. The "Get Yo Grub On, Albuquerque!" map is available for anyone to view, use and enjoy.
Foster posted the map to her web site with this disclaimer: "A collective dining map by print and broadcast students at UNM. Finished in about 10 minutes, so give us a break if we misspelled anything."
